Overview

One of the hospital's most active departments, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology boasts a desirable faculty mix of senior experienced and young eager professors. The agency offers yoemen service to the women of Chengalpattu district's neighbouring villages and towns. Regular antenatal care, preconception counselling, high risk pregnancy assessment and treatment, and delivery management are among the services offered by the department and the full spectrum of care for gynaecological issues, including management and screening for cancer, STIs, infertility and menopausal problems.One of the busiest departments in the hospital, it offers continuous, active services.

Highlights

The Department's mission is to offer comprehensive treatment to women at all stages of their lives, from the prepubescent stage to the reproductive stage and beyond the post-menopausal stage. It provides complete obstetric care and treatment, family planning services, including screening and preventive care for a number of gynecologic cancers.

The department regularly engages in outreach initiatives for the benefit of the socially disadvantaged and poor. These camps provide screening programmes to find issues like anaemia, diabetes, hypertension during pregnancy, and cervix and breast cancer.

Antenatal Awareness Programme and Nutrition In Pregnancy And Lactation- Patient Awareness Programmes are conducted frequently.

Our Services

Outpatient Services

Every day of the week, the department is open from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm for outpatient service. The department-specific casualty unit also offers emergency obstetric and gynecologic care. The department has designed and is currently operating a number of specialised clinics to address the requirements of the women.

Special Clinics

Pregnant women with various comorbid diseases should be effectively screened and monitored at high risk pregnancy clinics.

Compassionate treatment is provided to couples seeking assistance with infertility at infertility clinics.

Family welfare clinic: Provides services like MTP, Interval, and puerperal sterilisation, as well as appropriate counselling. ways of spacing used temporarily.

Postpartum clinic: Address the difficulties that women have after giving birth and offer pertinent family planning and breastfeeding guidance.

Cancer screening clinic: Breast, ovarian, cervix and uterine cancer screenings are conducted here.

Menopause clinic: To offer services to women in the perimenopausal and postmenopausal stages of their lives, addressing the numerous issues they may be experiencing at this time.

Labour Ward

The Department offers round-the-clock (24/7), high-quality labour care for women who are in labour in a modern, fully air-conditioned, and well-equipped labour ward.  Neonatal ICU, a well-stocked blood bank, and a fully furnished operating room provide necessary support.

Inpatient Services

Patient care is provided in a planned manner. The department manages both obstetric and gynecologic patients with sufficient obstetrics, gynecologic, and postnatal wards. It operates as five units. A well-equipped OT complex is available where elective obstetric and gynecologic surgeries including complex gynaecological procedures,hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgeries are carried out.
