The Department of Neonatology at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute is dedicated to improving the standard of neonatal care by offering thorough training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine to create outstanding clinicians, educators, clinical and research investigators, and encouraging high research productivity to contribute to the development of new knowledge and patient-oriented research studies to enhance clinical care.

This department upholds worldwide standards and places a high value on infection-control procedures, both of which have helped us produce good results. The departments of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, paediatric surgery, and radiology provide excellent subspecialty support for us.

Infants receive care from the experienced, effective, and compassionate medical, nursing, and paramedical team in the neonatology department.

It provides comprehensive high-quality care for a variety of complex medical and surgical issues to neonates (both preterm and unwell full-term). Our Services

Chettinad's Department of Neonatology has modern amenities that put it on level with the greatest medical facilities in the world. This department collaborates with other medical and paramedical professionals to develop effective neonatal care and provide high-quality medical education in neonatology. We are supported by a cutting-edge NICU. Our NICU setting features less light and noise, allows for longer periods of slumber, encourages optimal positioning, and offers therapeutic touch and comfort. Babies under 800 grams do well in our recently upgraded NICU.

Neonatal Screening services

Our department places a strong emphasis on vaccinations as a vital and integral part of preventative neonatology care.

All newborns are monitored for the first month of their lives before receiving further care from the paediatrics department. All high-risk preterm and term infants who are discharged from the NICU have a thorough neurodevelopmental checkup that lasts until they are 6 years old. This checkup includes developmental, nutritional, speech and language, and ophthalmological examinations.

Neonatal Follow Up services

For all premature and term newborns, we offer OAE, BERA, and ROP screening.

There are both standard and unique vaccination options.

Resuscitation & Transportation Services

Our services have

• Trained staff who have specialized in stabilizing and transferring preterm and critically ill newborns
• A committed and skilled newborn transport team is available to assist with deliveries at any hospital where anticipatory neonatal services are needed. 
• A transport crew, made up of specially trained nurses and newborn registrars with the NRP certification, is on call twenty-four hours a day to pick up and safely transfer premature and unwell newborns delivered at other hospitals.
• We have a specifically made Neonatal Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulance with a cutting-edge incubator for transporting newborns as well as advanced life support equipment, monitoring equipment, and oxygen.
