The Central Clinical Laboratory of CHRI received NABL accreditation (ISO 15189:2007), on September 24, 2009. Since then, with the hard effort and dedication of the laboratory staff, the accreditation has been upgraded to include 126 parameters, and we have improved to ISO 15189:2012 standards for competence and quality.
In order to guarantee the quality of examination results, the laboratory has established and put into place rigorous internal quality control procedures and proficiency testing through both external quality control assessment and interlaboratory comparison.
QA Programs for Microbiology, Pathology, and Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry participates in the CMC EQAS programme for HbA1C Analysis as well as the Biorad EQAS programme for Clinical Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Cardiac Markers, and Urine Chemistry. The Department of Pathology takes part in studies on coagulation at CMC Vellore, haematology at AIIMS EQAS, and cytology at TATA Memorial. The department additionally takes part in cross-laboratory evaluations for clinical pathology, body fluid analysis, and semen analysis. The Department of Microbiology and Serology engages in interlaboratory comparison programmes in accordance with ISO 17043 standards as well as EQAS for Microbiology, Serology, BBV Serology, Dengue Serology, and Molecular Virology, all with CMC Vellore.
