Overview

One of the key superspeciality departments at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, the Department of Neurosurgery treats all surgical issues involving the brain, spine, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. The Department is supported by a dedicated Neurosurgical ICU to care for seriously ill patients. The ICU is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a high-end operating microscope, neurosurgical drill, CUSA, and neuro endoscope. For patients who have suffered common traumas from vehicle accidents such as brain and spine damage, 24-hour trauma treatment is also available.

Regular outpatient and inpatient services, round-the-clock emergency and neurotrauma care, a dedicated neurosurgical operating room, an intensive care unit, and other services are all provided by the Department of Neurosurgery, which is well supported by a group of neuro anaesthetists, a team from neurology, and radiologists.

Our Services

Here, both simple and complex neurosurgical procedures are carried out. In addition to brain and spine trauma surgery, micro-neurosurgery, and neuro-endoscopic surgery, this also includes brain tumour surgery, skull base surgery, including endoscopic surgery for pituitary tumours, aneurysm and AVM surgery, cervical and lumbar disc surgery, complex spine fixation, spinal cord tumours, paediatric neurosurgery including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and tethered cord, craniosynostosis, Surgery for Stroke Prevention, Vertebroplasty, Complex Spinal Surgeries, and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery are available.
