Overview
Since its establishment, the Department of Anaesthesiology at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute has provided safe, considerate, and efficient patient care during the perioperative phase and in the Intensive Care Unit.
Highlights
All surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, oto-rhino-laryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric surgery, plastic surgery, in vitro fertilisation, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and transplant surgeries, are provided comprehensive clinical care by anesthesiology, critical care, and pain medicine in 15 operating rooms and other off-site locations. The department also offers services for acute and chronic pain, as well as labour analgesia.
Our Services
A) Clinical Anesthesia
All surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, oto-rhino-laryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric surgery, plastic surgery, in vitro fertilisation, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and transplant surgeries, are serviced by the department of anesthesiology.
B) Intensive Care
The department also oversees 12 bedded surgical ICU, where active care is given to patients in the immediate postoperative period and 12 bedded General ICU , 6 bedded Cardiac ICU and 4 bedded Neuro ICU.
C) Acute and chronic pain relief
The department also provides a pain clinic that offers interventional treatments and labor analgesia for the treatment of both acute and chronic pain.
D) Non-operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA)
The department additionally offers anaesthetic services for MRI, endoscopic procedures, and cath lab procedures.
E) Pre Anaesthetic fitness clinic
Prior to surgery, the patient is assessed for anaesthetic fitness in our dedicated Pre-Anesthetic Clinic (PAC).
