One of the main departments of the General Hospital, the Department of General Surgery is made up of a group of highly committed, knowledgeable, and skillful doctors.

Highlights

The Department has eight surgical units that offer the best care to the sick patients and assist inpatient care. Patients can choose to receive surgical care in specialised wards with all the essential amenities in addition to ordinary surgical wards.

Our Services

Outpatient Care

Timings: 

08:00 AM to 07:00 PM   on all days. 

08:00 AM to 01:00 PM    during holidays.

Specialist consultation is offered in addition to the aforementioned services in outlying facilities, such as our urban health facility in Karapakkam, the government primary health centre in Kelambakkam, and the rural health centre in Poonjeri.

With consultation rooms, dressing rooms, a room for minor procedures, a clinical demonstration room, and a faculty lounge with a conference room, the outpatient department is housed in OP No. 5 on the ground floor of A Block. Additionally, an endoscopic suite with all the necessary equipment is available for upper and lower GI endoscopy.

All patients will be addressed in the OPD, counselled about their conditions and given the chance to clear up any questions they may have before receiving the necessary therapy and staying in touch via teleconsultation.

Speciality clinics: The Department of Surgery hosts weekly specialty clinics with relevant super experts once a week as scheduled. The following specialist clinics are open for business at the moment.

Inpatient Services

In general surgery, we have 320 beds and 8 wards for patients of both sexes with 24 hour care. Patients admitted to the ward and the surgical intensive care ward get inpatient care. According to their preferences, patients might choose to be admitted to ordinary wards or special wards or rooms. Patients in surgical intensive care units receive post-operative care.
